So... I have been working on writing a book. It has been kind of a private thing for me this summer, but since I am getting close to finishing, I am going to start blogging about it. It has been a lot of fun for me to work on and the experience has been very inspiring. I can't wait to finish. I've got a little over 60,000 words. My goal is at least 20,000 more and I think I am going to make it.

Beach House in Surfside

Just a few days after returning from our camping trip, we spent a couple of nights at the beach. Surfside is a great beach area and we got to stay with our friends Jason and Jennifer Little. They have a great beach house right near the water. They hosted a company function and we all had a great time. My kiddos loved it!

Camping in Guadelupe River State Park

Our first family adventure of the summer was camping in Guadelupe River State Park. This park is a fantastic place to camp. We rented a hybrid trailer, which was great, and traveled approximately 3 hours up to Spring Branch, TX. "Toobing" on "the river" is a requirement for anyone who lives in Texas. GRSP is a good place to take your family. There are 4 miles of beautiful river front at this park. There is a very large "beach" area. The "beach" is made of river rocks. The river area in front of the beach is very shallow, all the way across. It is a perfect place for small children to play. The current is not not very fast here and there are not rapids in the immediate area. For people who want to actually "toob" or "tube" on the river, there is a river outfitter just a few miles fromt the state park and you can do a two hour ride from the outfitter and get out at GRSP.
The campsites are also very enjoyable. Each one is pretty secluded with lots of trees and bush. Some are closer than others, but I only saw one not real desirable campsite (number 49). We liked campsite 80 and campsite 75 also seemed like a good one too. There were alot of great sites, really hard to go wrong with any of them. The tent camping area also looked to be of the same quality.
Several great towns near by - Canyon lake, New Braunsfels and near by Boerne, which is a family favorite of ours. We really enjoy eating at Bear Moon cafe (the food is excellent, fresh and a lot of it is organic or from near by farmers) and stopping across the street at the Little Nature Store. I got some great bird seed there which is now a backyard favorite for a red headed woodpecker who like to come visit.
Over all we really liked this state park and are definately planning on going back and staying longer!

Aidan learns to ride his bike!

In the same week I registered him for kindergarten, he learned to ride his bike without training wheels. Even though we had worked during the week practicing, it was his neighbor friends Max and Jacob who taught him how to ride. I looked out the window and he was outside riding all by himself!

Aidan Learned to Snap!!

We had a visitor last night. I heard Halley Boo outside making all sorts of strange noises. I went to check and she was sitting on top of a table looking up. There was this huge racoon hanging upside down looking at her. Pretty neat!

New Years Eve

We went camping with the Scott Family for New Years Eve in Lake Summerville. What a blast! The boys can't wait to go camping again.

Christmas Vacation

We spent two days in Austin and had a great time. We hund out the the Litte Family. Our adventures included Innerspace Cavern and Austin Nature and Science Center. (Aidan was a little scared in the cave.) We ate great food too!

We are having an awesome holiday vacation! It is hard to believe Christmas has already passed. The boys are having a great time playing with their new wii they got for Christmas. Aidan has a great bowling birthday party for his 5th birthday. Stone will be turning 8 in January and we are having a curb side gaming party from www.gamecurb.com . We are going to Austin for a couple of days and then New Years eve will be spent with our good friends Cyndi and Ron and their 3 kiddos, camping at Lake Summerville. Hopefully it won't be too cold! What a great holiday!

I love fall! This is my favorite time of year! We took the boys to the Texas Renaissance Festival. We went with our good friends Tricia and Rick, and their boys Griffin, Pierce and Merrick. We had a great time! Stone and Aidan did the bungy jump for the first time and they had a blast!!!!

My 20 year reunion is this year and so my and two of my best friends from high school got together for the first time in over 15 years. It was great. We feel into the same patterns and grooves that we did when we were in high school. We met and ate dinner at Jaspers in The Woodlands. We walked around and talked while there was a concert going on near by. And it could not have been more appropriate. The performance that night was Journey, Heart and Cheap Trick. We had a great time!

Can't Wait! My little family (and my mom and dad) are going on an Alaska Cruise! We leave on June 5th for Seattle. We are planning on staying 3 days in Seattle, then leaving on the Star Princess. Our stops include Ketchikan, Skagway, Juneau, and Victoria BC. Only 9 days and counting!

My little family had such a great time over spring break! We went to Brazos Bend State Park to see alligators, Galveston to play on the beach, the Houston Museum of Natural Science to go to the planitarium, and the Houston Livestock Show and Rodeo and carnival. We had such a great time!!!!

My Little Family...
